Adding Author to My Resume: How to Write an Exceptional Business Plan

Date

There’s something really exciting about to happen here at Written Success! Let me tell you, it’s been a long time in the making!

Monday, January 6th, marks the official release date of my new bookHow to Write an Exceptional Business Plan — and I couldn’t be more excited.

As anyone who’s ever started a business knows, some dreams take a little time to come to fruition. Over the last year of working on my book, it’s become pretty clear to me that being an author has a lot in common with being a business owner.

I’ve wanted to write a book for ages, but with running my own business and raising a family, it’s something that had to take a backseat for a while.

I admit, it took some time before my business was efficient enough for me to take on something new. Finally, I had the time to start working on the book. I then had to contend with the beast us entrepreneurs know well: fear.

As entrepreneurs, we battle with the fear of failure or fear of falling short of others’ expectations. We want to avoid letting people down or having anyone judge us. Too often, we feel the pressure to make it work at all costs.

We fear we will not find resources we need — like identifying investors or getting a bank loan for our business. Or we fear that once we do find the resources, we’ll somehow blow it, and lose our opportunity.

So what do we do to contend with those fears?

Tackle Your Fears, Get Results

Knowing all the ways you can succeed is usually more helpful than focusing on all the ways you can fail.

With fear driving us, we tend to bury ourselves in the details. We write the longest, most detailed business plan anyone has ever seen. We lose sight of the point of what we’re doing.

I know these fears and struggles because I’ve lived them first hand. They’re something I help my clients work through. It’s a big part of the reason I wanted to write this book.

What I know now, after years of helping people write business plans, is that the biggest problem with inexperienced business plan writing is knowing what to write and where to stop.

My goal with this book is to help people tackle their fears of uncertainty and failure. It is a guide that anyone can use to make their business plan exactly what it needs to be. I want your business plan to match your business potential. And that’s exactly what How to Write an Exceptional Business Plan is set up to do.

Understanding how to create a successful business plan that can also pivot as your goals change can make all the difference as your business grows and thrives.

Providing Practical, Focused Help

I purposely designed this book as a step-by-step guide, with real examples from some of my clients. I wanted to show that everyone who is writing a business plan starts in the same place. Even with all the different approaches we can take, it’s designed to move us towards success.

The book’s focus is on the practical so that you can direct your attention to the right places. The goal is to help you get your business plan finished without too much angst along the way.

I want my readers to not only know how to finish a business plan. They can come to understand the key components of their business in a new way.

If any of this resonates with you, you’re exactly the kind of person I wrote How to Write an Exceptional Business Plan for.

I tackled my fears about writing a book, and I hope that reading it will help you tackle yours.
